Evaluation Question 2 Ayhan Khalilli

Representation of Social Group

The social group I have chosen to represent in my media product is Teenagers. Teenagers are often represented as rural, violent, rebellious, members of society and are at the bottom of the social hierarchy. In my media product I am going to represent teenagers following the stereotypes of teenagers using props, dialogue and dress code.

The Dress code

My media product is representation of teenagers as they are more likely to be dressed in hoodies and trainers as shown in the media product. This supports the stereotype of teenagers dressing in hoodies, trainers and baggy trousers this also connotes, the realism of my media product as the teenagers whom are the audience target are able to relate to the film. Moreover, this is also, another way of connoting teenagers dress code in a stereotypical way through the use of hypodermic needle theory which also, acts like a unique selling point to the target audience as they feel like they can relate to the characters in media product.

The Dress Code

From this screenshot we can see the character wearing tracksuit jacket over a hoodie which the character has his hood up connoting the fact he is trying to look intimidating. The target audience which is the teenagers who are also the social group which my media product represents can relate to this character as they are more likely to dress like him to which connotes the stereotype of teenagers wearing hoodies.

The Dialogue
Another way in which my media product represents the particular social group, teenagers is through dialogue. It does this through the characters use of informal English also known as slang which makes the target audience who are the teenagers feel like they can relate to characters as they are speaking the same language as the characters which is also, a stereotype of teenagers speaking slang.
In this scene, the characters are talking about the dead body they stumbled upon to which in the scene are talking in a slang informal English.

The Props Used By Characters

The props used by the characters in the media product are phones, weapons. This follows the codes and conventions of a gangster crime film which also, connotes the stereotype of teenagers always on their phone and being involved in gang culture such as use of violence through weapons.
In this shot we can see the character texting on his phone which connotes the stereotype of teenagers on their phones. In this shot we can see the character is holding a weapon which follows the codes and conventions of gangster-crime also, following the stereotype of teenagers being involved in violence.

My Representation of Teenagers
My representation of teenagers in my media product is teenagers being; mysterious, dress conscious, violent, mischievous members of society. I represented teenagers in this way through the use of all four micro-elements such as; editing, sound, camera and mise-enscene. Other films representation of teenagers are similar to mine as they too represent teenagers in a rural way and teenagers wearing hoodies. My
