DEFINITION

Planning skills are any skills that


allow you to look ahead and
accomplish goals or avoid
emotional, financial, physical or
social hardship. These skills let you
make decisions.

Systematically develops plans,


prioritizes, organizes and manages
resources in order to accomplish
business goals within a defined
timetable.

XAMPLES OF COMPETENCIES

The first competency is goal setting,


you must have a concept of what you
want to do or an overall vision.

The second competency area is


organizing, analyzing and gathering
data, include diagnosing problems
and their causes.

IMPORTACE

Planning is a major part of


business. Planning skills let you
organize and manage your
operations and the work force
you have at any given time.
Ultimately, the ability to use
planning skills translates into
control of the company's
expenses and revenue and
therefore into the ability to
remain in operation.

When beginning work on a


project initiate the following
five-step process:

1. Prepare a breakdown of all functional


tasks.
2. Analyze each component to
detect areas of risk
3. Categories the potential problems
into high and low risk areas
4. Prepare several possible approaches
to overcoming such problems if they
may occur
5. Build a safety net into your planning
for high-risk areas
