Why graph?

Graphs help us visualize data gathered


in experiments

Allow us to quickly draw accurate


conclusions

Axes
Axes are the sides of a graph
X axis: on the bottom, goes side to side
Y axis: along the side, goes up and down
X axis: Independent variable
Y axis: Dependent variable
Axes must ALWAYS BE LABELED with what they represent
and the units used.

Y axis must always have a scale!


A scale means that the values start at 0 and increase by a set

amount each time


Without a proper scale, graphs can be misleading and not
truly represent information.
Scales should be as specific as possible in order to truly
represent differences in data
