+
So far this year we have
learned a bunch of new words!
Lets
review:
Qualitative- an observation based on opinion

Quantitative- an observation based on factual

numerical value

Independent Variable- Variable controlled by the

experimentor

Dependent Variable- Variable not controlled by the

experimentor, depends on independent variable

Hypothesis- an educated guess

+
The past two days we learned
these ones:

Matter- anything that has mass and takes up space

Atom- the smallest object, an element

Molecule- composed of two or more atoms

Particle- parts of an atom- protons, neutrons, electrons

Models- a structure designed to give you a visual image

of something

+
Today we get to learn a few
more!
Temperature- a measure of intensity of heat or coldness

States of Matter- Solid, Liquid, Gas

Solid-stable, structured arrangement of particles, definite

shape
Liquid-no shape, but has volume, particles fill container
Gas- no defined volume or shape, unorganized particles

Diffusion- natural movement of particles, go from a high to

low concentration

Mass- how much matter it has, constant, measured in metric

Volume- how much space something takes up

States of Matter

How things are made

There is a 4th phase but we
wont focus on it- PLASMA
