Students are wrapping up unit

1, geometry this week. Students
will construct and draw circles
with a compass. They will also
construct hexagons and
triangles. Students will need to
prepare for the unit 1 math test
on Friday.
Reminder that Students need

Last week we did not get to read The

Island of Blue Dolphins. The students
completed level sets for Achieve.
Achieve is a great computer program
to help students to raise Lexile levels.
So, this week we will start Unit 1, risk
and consequences. Students will read
The Island of the Blue Dolphins and
explain what risks Karana will take and
to practice fluency in
infer the consequences. They will dive
multiplication facts. Continue
into the story finding the plot of the
studying those facts nightly.

In Social Studies, students will explain how location impacted the
everyday life and culture of the Native American groups. We will be
focusing on the Eastern Woodlander, Plains, Southwest, Great Basin ,and
the Pacific Northwest Native American groups. In Science, students will
develop and use models to compare how humans and other animals (like
the crayfish) use their senses and sensory organs to detect and respond to
signals from the environment. Students will also explain how structural
adaptations allow animals to survive in the environment,

GT Math

In GT math, we will continue to work

on our "factors, multiples, and
leftovers" unit. We will continue to
work on the lesson we were on last
week due to schedule changes. We
will have a check-up on Thursday and
a timed multiplication test on Friday.

GT Reading

We will begin text structures this

week. Due to son issues with
Achieve, there will be homework
assigned in Google Classroom. We
will learn the stems nym and
ono. There will be a quiz on Friday
on the stem words. There is no
spelling or DOL quiz this week.
