What is a Module?
A module is a specific type of learning
resource.
Module is a unit of work in a course of
instruction that is virtually self contained
and a method of teaching that is based on
the building up skills and knowledge in
discrete units.

It should be independent.

One purpose of modular instruction is to
allow the student to proceed at his own
rate.
The belief that self-pacing desirable is base
on the generally accepted assumptions that
learners do not achieve at the same rate
and are not ready to learn at the same time.
It allows the student to choose his own
learning mode.
Limitations of modular
instruction
Independent study requires adjustments to a
new learning strategies and high level of
motivation and self discipline on the part of
the learner.
Language or communication problems may
arise when the emphasis is on written
materials only
There is minimum learner-teacher/group
interaction ,learner may become too individual
or self- centred may not develop team spirit.
