The Chapel of Man in Quito, Ecuador was built between 1995 and 2002 as an initiative of Ecuadorian painter Oswaldo Guayasamín. Through his paintings displayed in the chapel, Guayasamín portrayed the pain, anger, tenderness, protest and dreams of humankind. The brick structure was inspired by an Inca temple and houses Guayasamín's remains beneath an eternal flame for peace and human rights. The chapel pays tribute to man and is located in Quito's Bellavista neighborhood within the Casa Taller Guayasamín Museum cultural complex.
