WE CAN REDUCE THE CONTRIBUTION OF

FRICTION TO THE CIRCULAR MOTION IF THE
ROAD IS BANKED.
Net force Vertical direction = 0
therefore, N cos = sin + mg - eq 1

Net force along the horizontal direction is the centripetal force = mv/R
therefore, N sin + cos = mv/R - eq 2

For obtaining the maximum V, = s N

Therefore, N cos = s N sin + mg

And N sin + s N cos = mv/R
N cos s N sin = mg
N = mg/ cos s sin - eq 3

From eq 2, N sin + s N cos = mVmax/R

= N (sin + s cos) = mVmax/R

Substituting the value of N from eq 3,

mg (sin + s cos) / cos s sin = mVmax/R

so as to make the road frictionless , i.e. , for s= 0

=

if the vehicle is moving with this velocity the tires wont tear off because now at
this speed frictional force wont be needed at all to provide the necessary
centripetal acceleration
