FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF CONNECTING ROD OF

A HIGH POWER DENSITY DIESEL ENGINE

DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

1
ABSTRACT

 Earlier days, the traditional Heavy duty Engines, using V12

cylinder arrangement, generated up to 1030KW (1400 hp), it
occupies more volume.

 Future vehicles as the space is the premium, the high

power Density Diesel engine is to be accommodated
smaller envelope.

 One of the parameter dictates the size of the Diesel Engine is

the length of the Connecting rod /(Bore/Stroke-reduced).The
length of the connecting rod of the high power density engines
are smaller than traditional diesel engine of the same capacity

 The main objective is to study and carryout stress Analysis of

Short length connecting rod for the High power density diesel
engine application using Finite element method.
