ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION
Environmental pollution is the contamination of the
physical and chemical component of the earth atmosphere
system to such an extent that normal environmental
processes are adversely affected.
TYPES OF POLLUTION

1. Air Pollution
2. Water Pollution
3. Noise Pollution
4. Land Pollution
AIR POLLUTION
 Atmosphere is the life blanket of Earth.
 Air pollution occur when harmful substance are
including in air.
CAUSES OF AIR POLLUTION
 Industrial pollution.
 Pollution emitting from vehicles.
 High Usage of undesirable gases, such as sulphur
dioxide and carbon monoxide.
 Smoke.
EFFECTS OF AIR POLLUTION
 Human health.
 Plants & animals.
 Global climate changes
 Ozone depletion(Ozone hole).
 Acid Rain.
 Various respiratory illnesses.
WATER POLLUTION

Water pollution is an undesirable change in the state of

water contaminated with harmful substances.
CAUSES OF WATER POLLUTION
 Sewage
 Industrial waste
 Usage of fertilizers and pesticides
 Soaps and detergents
EFFECTS OF WATER POLLUTION
 Diseases like Cholera.
 Malaria.
 destroy costal plants, fishes
NOISE POLLUTION
 Noise can be simply defined as unwanted sounds.
 Noise pollution means pollution of the environment
with unpleasant and undesirable sound through
human activities, causing adverse effect in all
recipients.
CAUSES OF NOISE POLLUTION
 Noise from Industries.
 Usage of air horn
 Vehicles such as train, bus
 Loud speaker and audio system used in social
celebration
EFFECTS OF NOISE POLLUTION
 Hearing Loss.
 High Blood Pressure.
 Stress.
 Sleep disturbance.
SOIL POLLUTION
 One fourth of area is covered by land.
 Soil pollution is the degradation of land surfaces often
caused by human activities and misuse of land
resources.
CAUSES OF SOIL POLLUTION
 Mining activities.
 Usage of fertilizers and pesticides
 Over usage of plastic
 Industrial Waste
 Deforestation and soil erosion.
PREVENTION OF SOIL POLLUTION
3R Principle:
 Reduce
 Reuse
 Recycle
