Lesson 5a

I left my house at 7am. I got into my car


and switched on the radio. I can’t stand Chris
Moyles and it was his voice blaring out of the
stereo at me. I quickly switched him off. The
car wouldn’t start at first and tried
everything. I switched it off, counted to one
hundred, as much to calm myself down as to
make the car work, and tried again. It started
and I was on my way.

examples and you need to think of two of your
own.
 You have 15 mins to do this task.
 Use the level descriptors for the use of connectives
to help you ensure you writing achieves the highest
level it can.
 Level 4 =Used a couple of basic
connectives.
 Level 5 = Used connectives, but they are
not smoothly integrated.
 Level 6= Used the basic connectives and
others that are more creative. They make
perfect sense within the speech.
 Level 7= Used basic connectives and others
that are more creative and sophisticated.
They make the piece sound better and
make argument more logical or effective for
reader.
 Look at another pairs speech.
