These policies are concerned with regulation of trade, business, safety measures,
public utilities, etc. performed by independent organisations working on behalf of the
government like LIC,RBI,SEBI,STATE ELECTRICITY BOARDS, etc. Policies pertaining to

these services and organisations rendering these services are known as regulatory
policies.
 The objective of regulatory policy is to ensure that regulations are in the public
interest.
 It addresses the permanent need to ensure that regulations and regulatory
frameworks are justified, of good quality and “fit for purpose”.
 An integral part of effective public governance, regulatory policy helps to shape
the relationship between the state, citizens and businesses.
 An effective regulatory policy supports economic development and the rule of
law, helping policy makers to reach informed decisions about what to regulate,
whom to regulate, and how to regulate.

9 Negative impacts of Liquor Ban in Bihar

• Huge loss of taxes that the state government gets


through liquor sell
• Liquor addicted people started paying everything to
get liquor from anywhere generally from nearby
state Jharkhand, UP and Nepal
• Facing financial problems whose family members
had the business of liquor earlier
