SCC??
 Originally developed in Japan, SCC technology was made possible
by the much earlier development of Superplasticisers for concrete.
SCC has now been taken up with enthusiasm across Europe, for
both site and precast concrete work. The use of self-compacting
concrete (SCC) is spreading world wide because of its very
attractive properties in the fresh state as well as after hardening.
Description
• Self-consolidating concrete, also known as self-compacting concrete (SCC),
is a highly flowable, non-segregating concrete that spreads into place, fills
formwork, and encapsulates even the most congested reinforcement, all
without any mechanical vibration.
• It is defined as a concrete mix that can be placed purely by means of its
own weight, with little or no vibration. As a high-performance concrete, SCC
delivers these attractive benefits while maintaining all of concrete's
customary mechanical and durability characteristics.
• Adjustments to traditional mix designs and the use of superplasticizers
creates flowing concrete that meets tough performance requirements. If
needed, low dosages of viscosity modifier can eliminate unwanted bleeding
and segregation.
 Self-compacting concrete (SCC) has been described as "the most revolutionary
development in concrete Construction for several decades". Originally
developed to offset a growing shortage of skilled labour, it has proved
beneficial economically because of a number of factors, including:

• faster construction

• reduction in site manpower

• better surface finishes

• easier placing

• improved durability

• greater freedom in design

• thinner concrete sections

• reduced noise levels, absence of vibration

• safer working environment

• SCC can be placed easily in complicated formwork and dense
reinforcement.
• Due to its low water-cement ratio, plastic shrinkage cracks
may occur. But this can be avoided by curing properly.
• It is super workable due to its low water-cement ratio, which

• As it is self-compacted there are no need to use any vibrator. • It is more costly than any other conventional concrete

• Bleeding and segregation problems are almost nil.

• It produces a smooth and well-finished surface at the end of

concreting.

• Thinner concrete slabs can be cast easily.

• Working procedure is totally safe.

• It is environment-friendly.
