Mohan Singh Market lies in South Delhi has a large slum cluster There are above 4000 people living there. ABOUT THE FAMILIES • Majority of them are born in Delhi. • Majority of them are illiterate. • Majority of the persons living here work as a Casual Labour and don’t have any permanent job. • Only few women are employed. • Only a few children go to school. • Many of children work in factories or perform other small jobs like shoe polish, rag picking, etc. • Average annual income of a family is Rs.6500. • Many of them now have opened their own small shops like tea shops, fruit stalls, etc. MAJOR ISSUES FACED BY THESE PEOPLE :- • Unemployment and Lack of regular Employment • Malnutrition and Poor Health • Illiteracy • Many of them don’t have even a “Pakka house” • Domestic Voilence • Lack of Cleanliness • Lack of access to Clean Drinking Water • Lack of Sanitization CENTRAL GOVERNMENT SCHEMES Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana :- • It is financial inclusion program of Government of India which is applicable to 18 to 65 years age group that aims to expand and make affordable access to financial services such as Bank Account, Remittances, Credit, Insurance and Pensions. • In this slum area, majority of people do have a bank account . • However, they never received any amount as promised by the Government. Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana :- • Under this scheme, MUDRA banks were set up. It will provide its services small entrepreneurs outside the service area of regular banks, by using last mile agents. • Majority of people living here are unaware of this scheme. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan :- • The Public Toilets opened under this scheme provides proper toilet facility to these people as many of these families don’t have their own separate toilets. • However some of the streets are in very dirty conditions. Like in this picture you can see a man on the bed and condition around him. Ayushman Bharat Yojana :- • This scheme aims at making interventions in primary, secondary and tertiary care systems, covering both preventive and promotive health, to address healthcare holistically. It provides coverage upto Rs.5,00,000 per family per year. • Most of the people are unaware of this scheme. • However, Asha (NGO) provides basic healthcare facilities to these people. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana :- • People of this slum are aware of this scheme and are enjoying the same. • It also helped them to open a Small Tea Shop.
