“Play For Fun”

Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, 90% of the
students must have:
a. scanned the dictionary
b. listed possible words that can be
formed from the letters of the given
word
c. valued “teamwork” through Play for
Fun.
Play For Fun
•enhances vocabulary
•teaches scanning skills
•develops teamwork
• can be played indoor or outdoor
•an engaging activity
•improves listening skills
•Allows students to take down notes
•develops physical and mental alertness
Are you ready?
Procedure:
1. Form 2 groups.
2. Allow the students to make a list of
possible new words that can be formed
from the letters K E Y B O A R D. See
to it that students are also familiar of
the meanings of the words they have
listed.
3. The teacher provides a dictionary for
each group(/other option).
Procedure:
4. Give them 20-30 minutes to do the
listing/familiarization of listed words.
5. After 20 minutes, ask one (1)
representative of each group to share
their list in front. Allow other group to
take note of the words that are not
found in their list.
6. Give 3-5 minutes for the group to
review and study their list of words.

Mechanics:
Given word: KEYBOARD
a. There are 8 players in each team.
b. Each player in the team wears a letter to
form the given word.
c. The moderator reads/ gives three clues for
the word twice only.
Mechanics:
d. After the clues have been given, the timer
rings a five-second note.
e. Right after the fifth note has sounded, the
command “READY, SET, GO!” will be
heard from the moderator.
f. Each team shall form the word in the
designated area assigned to them.
Mechanics:
g. The team shall not form their answer until
the word “GO” has been given. Otherwise,
their score will not be counted.
h. The team which forms the correct answer
within 5 seconds earns the following
points:
EASY-1 point
MODERATELY DIFFICULT- 3 points
VERY DIFFICULT-5 points
Mechanics:
i. There shall be ten (10) questions and the
team who earns the most points wins.
