UNIT 8: SPORTS AND GAMES

Lesson 1: Getting Started – At the gym

I. Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

1. Knowledge
- Have an overview about the topic Sports and games
- Use the vocabulary and talk about sports and games

2. Core competence
- Develop communication skills and creativity
- Be collaborative and supportive in pair work and team work
- Actively join in class activities

II. Preparation
1. Teacher: Grade 6 textbook, computer connected to the internet, projector/ TV/ pictures and
cards, handouts
2. Students: Grade 6 textbook, notebook, pens

III. Procedure
1. WARM- UP: BRAINSTORMING
a. Aims: - To set the context for the listening and reading text and introduce the topic of the unit.
b. Content:Students work in teams, try to write on the board as many names of sport and game as
possible
c. Output: Students are activated and find out the topic of the lesson.

2. PRESENTATION
Activity 1: New vocabulary
a. Aims To prepare students with vocabulary related to the topic “sports and games”
b. Content:Teacher provides students with necessary vocabulary in the reading text.
c. Output: Students remember the new vocabulary.

Activity 4: Game: Hot- seat


a. Aims: To help students revise some sports and games through gesture and pictures.
b. Content:Students work in team to play the game.
c. Output: Students can revise some sports and games.
