KOREAN NATIONAL FLAG
South Korean Flag also known as
Taegukgi ( Taekgeukgi) “supreme
ultimate flag” It has a 3 parts:
1. A white rectangular
background.
2. A red and blue Taeguk.
Symbolizing balance.
3. Four Trigrams selected from
the original, one towards each
other.
The absence of the Korean flag became an
issue for Korea in 1876. Korea did not
assert to a need for or the importance of a
national flag. The issue becomes arose
during the negotiations for the Japan –
Korea Treaty of 1876.
Chinese delegate Huang Zunxian make the
most popular proposal was described in
Korea Strategy. It is proffered to
incorporate the flag of Chinese proposal,
the Korean dispatched Lee – Young – Sook.
Li Hongzhang – Agree with some of
the proposal, but proposed that some
other factors should be differed.
Qing Dynasty agreed with Li
Hongzhang, but it is unknown how
far the Joseon government explored
this proposal.
