Introduction
• ŠKODA AUTO, more commonly known as Škoda, is a Czech
automobile manufacturer founded in 1895 as Laurin &
Klement.
• Its headquarters are in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. In
1925 Laurin & Klement was acquired by the industrial
conglomerate Škoda Works, which itself became state owned in
1948.
• The Company’s main brands include Volkswagen AG,
Audi, Porsche, Škoda, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini,
and Seat operating in over 30 countries.
• SKODA India operates a manufacturing plant in Pune
(Chakan) Maharashtra which is capable of producing
200,000 vehicles per annum.
• The plant is also shared by Škoda Auto India Private
Limited.

• The plant is situated in Pune (Chakan)
Maharashtra which is capable of producing 200,000
vehicles per annum, which also used by Skoda and
Audi.
Layout:
• The facility uses futuristically designed state-of-the-
art equipment.
• The facility houses the entire automotive production
process, from the press shop, body shop, paint shop
and assembly along with an in-house R&D facility .

• The exhaust of the paint shop is re-burnt and the

Procurement
• Most of the parts except Petrol engines, gear boxes,
electronic components, and certain components for
which technology does not exist in India, are locally
produced in India by Indian suppliers.
• Certain key components diesel engine such as the
turbo charger, connecting rod, etc. are locally
produced in India.
• The turbo charger comes from Honeywell's local
production plant in Pune.
