RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

• Research methodology is a way to systematically solve


the research problem and how research is done
scientifically.
• It consists of the different steps that are generally adopted
by the researcher to the study his research problem along
with logic behind them.
RESEARCH DESIGN:
 A research design is the arrangement of condition for
collection and analysis of data in a manner that aims to
combine relevant to the research purpose with economy
in procedure.
 The Research design used for this study is
“Descriptive Research” whose purpose is to describe
accurately the characteristics of a particular individual, or
of a group.
 The research is done to identify the problems and
prospects of women entrepreneurs in erode.
SAMPLE UNITS:
 Sampling unit selected for this project is the women
entrepreneurs in erode.
SAMPLING SIZE:
 The size of the sample which is taken for the
research study is called sample size which constitutes
of female respondents.
 The size of the sample is limited to 120 respondents
SAMPLING TECHNIQUE:
 The sampling method adopted for this study is non-
probability convenience sampling.
DATA COLLECTION:
 The required data for this study has been collected from
both primary data as well as secondary data sources.
PRIMARY DATA:
 The primary data are those, which collected fresh for the
first time and this to be original in character.
 The primary data collected from the respondents through
questionnaire.
SECONDARY DATA:
 The researcher collected the secondary data from
Journals, Articles, Books, Websites.
TOOLS USED:
 Simple percentage method
 Chi-square method
 Ranking analysis
SIMPLE PERCENTAGE METHOD
Simple percentage method is used to analyze the data.
Simple percentage method is dividing the given total
number of respondents and multiplying by 100.
FORMULA
Simple percentage method = No. of respondents ×100
Total no. of respondents
CHI-SQUARE TEST
 The chi- square test is an important test among the
several tests of significance.
 The Chi-square is a statistical measure used in the
context of sampling analysis for comparing a variance to
a theoretical variance.
FORMULA
Chi – square = Ʃ (Oi-Eij) 2 / Eij
Where,
 Oij= Observed frequency
 Eij = Expected frequency
 To find the expected frequency
 E=Row Total X column total/ grand total.
 To find degree of freedom
 Degree of freedom= (column-1) X (row-1)
RANKING ANALYSIS (WEIGHTED AVERAGE
METHOD):
weighted average ranking method has been used to find
out the business opportunities for women entrepreneur in
erode.
Formula:
Weighted average = Total *100
No. of Factors × no. of respondents
