ECONOMY
● The Galleon trade with the route Manila-Acapulco is trading system.
● Filipinos were not allowed to trade with other countries. There are also the
monopoly in the industry like tabacco.
● The wages during the Spanish era is around 2 pesos and it would suffice to
the needs of a Filipino family.
● Forced Labor
● Philippine became a major exporter and well-known in some parts of the
world. (Cash-Crop Economy)
● Haciendas owned by Friars.
POLITICAL
● The Philippine is under the colony of Spain and the Monarchy.
● The head of the Philippines is the Governor-General.
● Only man were allowed to vote. Women were not allowed to take position in
the governance.
● Corrupt Colonial officials.
● The Guardia Civil
● Appointed Officials
● Conotive System/Rotativism
● Human Rights denied to the Filipinos
● Must be Peninsulares/ Spaniards born in Spain.

CULTURAL
● The Priests of friars have a lot of powers during the Spanish period. They
serve as preachers,confessor,recorder of deeds,tax collector,election
inspector,law enforcers,teacher and substitue to Governor-General.
● Catholic is the official religion. Other Sect/religion is prohibited.
● Assimilation of Spanish language,culture,religion in the class. (EDUCATION)
● Friars maintained the order of educational system.
● Frailocracy.
SOCIAL
● Women are allowed to stay only in their homes and in schools that is
exclusively for them under the supervision of nuns. They were not allowed to
study that requires application in the society.
● Women were not free to socialized with men.
● Social Structure:
1. Highest Class (Spanish officials and Friars)
2. Middle Class (Natives, Mestizos)
3. Lowest Class (Indios)
● They Collected all forms of taxes and tributes from the Philippines.

● The Philippines is independent, following the democratic Republic types of
government an it has three branches namely: The executive department
headed by the President: The legislative which includes the senator and
house of representatives:The Judiciary headed by the Chief justice of the
Supreme Court.
● Women are now allowed to vote and take a position.
● Must be a bonafide Filipino
● Elite Rule
CULTURAL
● There are many religions and the people are free to choose.
● The educational system are now open to all and free to study in any course
they want.
● In terms of culture we are still have the Spanish Culture like the
Names,Language and Religion.
SOCIAL
● Women are free to study in any schools and take up the course they want to
pursue.
● Women are free to socialized with men.
● Women can also do some works of men.
