 Two artist, Johnsy and Sue, share an
apartments, Johnsy contacts pneumonia, and
she loses hope for life she says that she will
die when the last leaf on the vine outside
falls. Mr. Behrman, one of their neighbors,
hears about his, and he paints a leaf on the
wall outside to give her hope. He dies on
pneumonia in order to do this for her.
