FUNCTION ORAL LITERATURE


DEFINITION

1. Literature is the expressions of thought,


emotion, experience, beliefs, and such which
are converted into both oral and written work POETRY
(Wellek and Warren, 1963)

2. Pickering & Hoeper (1981) said that


" literature is a uniquely human activity, born of
man's timeless desire to understand, express, PROSE
and finally share experiences”.

3. Henry van Dyke says that “Literature consists


of those writing which interpret the meanings of
nature and life, in words of charm and power,
DRAMA
touched with the personality of the author, in
artistic forms of permanent interest.”
