Parameter Tuning for RNC

Proposal for Improvement

 Checking RF conditions including the geographical

conditions: Ec/N0, RSCP with NEC’s tool “W-CARD”

 Checking network configurations

- Location of the Node-Bs installed
Very important to point out insufficient network
planning
- Iub bandwidth

HSDPA Field Trial Activity
for Vodafone K.K

CONFIDENTIAL
Mobile Business Unit © NEC Corporation 2005
Purpose of the Field trial

1. To evaluate the HSDPA performance and characteristic in

the field before the HSDPA commercial launch.
2. Perform IOT with various prototype-UE.
3. To clarify the key parameters for the optimisation.
4. To appeal to the customer the progress of NEC/SIEMENS
development.

The measurement result would be good enough to operate commercial service

because each function was satisfied with the required level.

Improve HSDPA Quality

Network would be better if the following points are improved.

1. Optimise Handover parameters
2. Optimise each CH power
3. IoT between NEC RAN and UE vendors
4. Verify the Scheduler function, in case of user increases
5. Verify the coverage area, in case of traffic increases

HSDPA Simulation Feature

W-CARD manages both R99 and HSDPA simulation

simultaneously.
HSDPA simulation is carried out based on R99 with some
additional parameters.

W-CARD HSDPA Feature Output

• HS-PDSCH SIR Distribution
• Throughput
• HS-PDSCH Usage Ratio
• Data Rate Density
