Human Environment System

This document discusses human-environment systems and the interactions between human social systems and ecosystems. It defines the environment as including water, air, land, and natural forces that surround humans and other living organisms. It also describes human-environment systems as complex interactions that combine both human and natural components, showing feedback between them. The document provides activities and criteria for students to write a position paper on why humans should be responsible for the environment, applying concepts of human-environment systems.

Is a complex of many variables which
surrounds man as well as the living
organisms.
It includes water, air and land, the
physical, chemical and other natural
forces.
HUMAN ENVIRONMENT SYSTEMS
interactions between human social
system and the ecosystem
systems which combine both human
and natural components to show
complex interactions and feedback
between them
POSITION PAPER
 Write a position paper using the concepts you
learned on Human Environment Systems. The theme
of the paper will be “WHY SHOULD MAN BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS ENVIRONMENT?”
 Important points on Human Environment Systems
must be applied in writing the position paper with
supporting data from various researches/ reports
CRITERIA

 CONTENT 30 pts.
 Relevance to the theme 20 pts.
 Organization 10 pts.
Total 60 pts
ACTIVITY
 Watch the video titled “ MAN” by Steve Cutts
 After carefully discerning the message of the video,
answer the following questions :
1. What was your initial reaction after watching the
video?
2. What is the main idea of the video
NATURAL DISASTERS
 EARTHQUAKE – are caused by volcanic eruptions or
by sudden movement of the tectonic plates
underneath the earth crust
 TSUNAMI – this happens right after an earthquake or
a volcanic eruption under the sea . A tsunami is a
series of giant sea waves that can cause damage to
life and property to those living in coastline areas.
MAN – MADE PROBLEMS
 According to scientists a significant average increase in
global temperature is most likely catastrophic in distant
future and that slight temperature increase is what we call
GLOBAL WARMING.
 CLIMATE CHANGE is the long term shift in weather patterns
in a specific region or globally” which may lead to specific
changes in overall weather patterns, including precipitation,
temperature, cloud cover & so on..
OTHER MAN MADE PROBLEMS:
 War and aggression
 Graft and corruption
 Pollution
 Overpopulation
 Drug Abuse
 Exploitation of poor and marginalized
 Abuse against women and children
 Human rights violation
Do you believe that humans are killing the
