WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO REALLY LISTEN?
Real listening is an active process that has three basic steps.

 Hearing.

 Understanding.

 Judging.
STRATEGIES FOR DEVELOPING LISTENING
SKILLS
Listening strategies are techniques or activities that contribute
directly to the comprehension and recall of listening input.
Listening strategies can be classified by how the listener processes
the input.

 Identification.

 Orientation.

 Main idea comprehension.

 Detail comprehension.

 Replication.

 We listen to obtain information.


 We listen to understand.
 We listen for enjoyment.
 We listen to learn.
Becoming an Active Listener

There are five key elements of active listening. They all help you
ensure that you hear the other person, and that the other person
knows you are hearing what they say.

1. Pay attention.

2. Show that you are listening

3. Provide feedback

4. Defer judgment

5. Respond Appropriately.
