Smart library management system based on

Internet of Things(IOT).
ABSTRACT
RFID provides one of the best solutions for the
identification of assets. RFID is a new generation
which provides auto identification and data
collection technique. RFID allows identification of
tagged books, using radio frequency. RFID based
Library Management System (LMS) will help us to
increase the flow of transaction for a library. The
proposed system of LMS is based on UHF RFID
readers, along with the antennas at library entrance
and on all other transactional points of the library.
This work discusses elimination of transactional
module from existing RFID based Library
Management System.

LITERATURE SURVEY
Manual process of keeping student records, book records, account details, managing employee is
very difficult. There are various problems also faced by the student in library such as finding
any book, information whether book is available or not, for what time this book will be available,
searching of books using ISBN number etc. To eliminate this manual system, library
management system has been developed. Library Management System will handle all the
current issues faced by the students and by its admin personnel.
INTRODUCTION
A Library Management System (LMS) is a tool to help any libraries
which are still using the old way to manage their library. The old way
like searching for a book using manual work is hassle, fast report
generation is not possible, information about issue/return of the books
are not properly maintained, no central database can be created as
information is not available in database. But by using the LMS, user
can overcome all the problems mentioned above. This system can
manage all the happenings of the library. Book transactions including
book searching, availability of the book, details and appearance of the
book, personal book borrowing history and etc. can be very easily
handled by this system. This system is suitable for small to big
libraries including medical and legal libraries, colleges, schools,
universities, corporate houses and other academic resource centers.
However, I would like to focus on LMS for colleges or universities.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
To store all the information in the database from
where user will place their query and get the
results based on their query. Only valid users
will be able to access this Library Management
System. Through this Library Management
System, it will be easy to manage accounts and
various details of student and employees working
under library along with the records of book.
BLOCK DIAGRAM
METHODOLOGY

In this System RFID is continually reading student card if we

show the valid student card. System ask for operation like you
want take new book or you’re going to submit book.to select
operation two switches present After pressing the switch show
book card so system will send book and student data to server and
base on server data appropriate operation will happen .If any
error message is there is shown on LCD16x2,WIFI module is used
for internet communication. Android app for student to look how
many books on their name. And one java application for librarian
to create new users.
APPLICATIONS
Any education institute can make use of it for
providing information about author, content of
the available books.
It can be used in offices and modifications can
be easily done according to requirements.
ADVANTAGES
 Improve efficiency and productivity
LMS it helps most businesses to increase efficiency on
their daily work such as reducing man power and manual
activities subsequently improve productivity.
 Save time
LMS reduces manual activities, man power and
paperwork. With this computerized system, people which
have multiple skills can be used more efficiently.
EXPECTED RESULT
RFID in library speeds up all the processes like issuing, reissuing
returning books, monitoring of books regarding to anti-theft, books
searching processes. Performance of a system depends upon the
information on the tag, effectiveness of RFID reader position, tag
position. And they all depend upon the cost. Developments in RFID
technology continue to yield larger memory capacities, wider reading
ranges, and faster processing. Updating of manual book keeping,
books are now more easily traceable, improved utilization of resources
like manpower, infrastructure etc, less time consumed as no line of
sight is mandatory, minimized manual intervention, minimized
manual errors, availability of the long-lasting tags, fast access to
books.
FUTURE SCOPE
In future the tag system can be implemented in
any type of asset tracking, especially in multi-
national offices to keep track in their office files,
often DVDs. It can also be used in laboratories
for tracking of equipment’s. RFID can be
implemented in public transits for avoidance of
unauthorized travel.
