Introduction to Ctrip Company

• Ctrip in China was founded in Shanghai in 1999, it is positioned on online

travel booking (Mobile & Computer). Its business model is a combination
of Internet booking and traditional travel agencies. The company has
been listed on the NASDAQ in 2003. More than 9,000 people are
currently working for Ctrip in China including 6,000 in Shanghai. Ctrip has
announced that mobile hotel reservation exceeded 40% of its total
volume, exceeding its call center and its websites.
• Smartphones became the first source of hotel reservation for Ctrip in
China, the group will therefore make more effort to increase this rate. To
understand this, it is important to know that in Asia, particularly in
China, more and more people are used to using their Smartphones or
tablets to surf on the Internet. Ctrip applications are available on
Android and Apple devices. Every hotel which would like to develop their
website in Chinese, should first create a mobile application or a mobile
website, to enjoy this huge market.
