Municipality of Palanan, Isabela
● It is an isolated coastal town facing the Philippine sea on
the east and is separated from the rest of the province by
the Sierra Madre Mountains
● Has a population of more than 17,000 people according to
the 2015 census

Palanan Wilderness Area
● It is located in the east side of Isabela (Region II)
● The remote wilderness can be accessed only by a
pumpboat or a light aircraft
● Almost 45% of all plant species native to the Philippines
and above 50% of threatened local wildlife may be found
in this area

Agta and Dumagat Tribe
● Indigenous tribe found in Palanan Wilderness Area
● Similar to the Aetas found on the Western part of Luzon
● Agta people mostly live in the mountains or forest while
the Dumagat people prefer to live near the shore
