INTRODUCTION

This is a simple circuit that activates an

alarm when there is a knock on the door
or there are any vibrations due to
movement of heavy goods or furniture.
The circuit uses readily available
components.
VIBRATION ALARM IS A USEFUL GADGET FOR SECURITY
PURPOSE,WHICH IS ACTIVATED BY SLIGHTEST
VIBRATION OR KNOCK.
APPARATUS

•All the resistors and diodes

•The disc type capacitors
•Transistors and connector
•All electrolyte capacitors
•All the LEDs
•Battery snappers,buzzer and piezo plate
CONSTRUCTION

.The circuit is built around quad-opamp LM324 (IC1),

which is configured in amplifier mode. It uses the
piezoelectric element of a piezo buzzer as the input
sensor, two transistors BC547 (T1 through T2), a
piezo buzzer and some other components for the
alarm circuit.

.The reference voltage at pin 3 of IC1 is set by trimming

potmeter VR1. The piezoelectric element plate is fixed at
the centre of the door using cello tape.
.Apply a small quantity of adhesive on
the edges between the plates. Wires
from the piezo element are connected at
CON2. These generate an input pulse
when vibrations are caused by knocking
on the door.

.Because of the presence of high-value

capacitor C5, the buzzer remains active for a
few seconds. The circuit is powered by
9V/12V power supply.
WORKING

 A piezo electrical sensor is connected with the circuit. This

plate can be fixed on the door, window, car etc by using
adhesive or cello tape.

 When someone opens the door or knock there, then a

mechanical vibration is created through out.

 The peizo plate absorbs the mechanical vibration and

transforms into electrical vibrations.

 The electrical signal gets amplified by transistors in

respective stages.
Finally the transistor Q1 drives the peizo buzzer.

Time delay can be changed by adjusting the value of capacitor C1.

To activated AC loads buzzer may be replaced with a relay.

Normally it can be produced using 9 volts and for continuous use

12 volts adaptor can be performed.

Connect the gadget with battery. Place the sensor on a flat surface
without disturbing then slightly knock there, observe that the LED
will glow and buzzer will sound.
EFFICIENCY

T = 1.1 * R * C
for given circuit
Tmono = 1.1 * R3 * C2
= 1.1 * 1MΩ * 100µF
= 1.1 * 1000000 * 0.0001
Tmono = 110 Seconds.
PRECAUTIONS
 The PCB and the components to be soldered must be free of dirt or grease.

 Use 15 to 25 watt soldering iron for general work involving small joints.

 While soldering, make sure the electronic part doesn’t get heat for more than 3-
4 sec since most of them are sensitive to heat.

 Do not move the components until the molten solder, at the joint is cooled.

 Mount the component at the appropriate places before soldering.

 Follow the circuit description and component
details and there identification.

 Do not sit under a fan while soldering.

 Power supply should be 9 volts DC.
