DRY BULK TERMINALS

INTRODUCTION
• During the last 25 years Dry Bulk terminals have become one of the well
established features in International Seaborne trade.
• The term is loosely applied but it can be understood as the combination of
economic resources, infrastructure, equipment and labour provided and
managed at a well defined modal interface for handling bulk commodities.
• The development in size of these terminals is very similar to that of container
vessel terminals, with the Panamax (65,000dwt) size being popular in both
groups.
• Bulk cargo-loading terminals are usually situated as near as possible to the
source or with good rail connection to the source.
