 Tata Airlines formed in 1932 by JRD

 Transformed into a joint sector and
later public sector after Independence
and renamed Air India
 International Flights started in 1954
 There are primarily 8 major airlines in
India today

 Jet Airways was incorporated as Air Taxi operator
in April,1992.
 Jet started its commercial airline operations on 5
May 1993
 Jet was started as a full service scheduled airline &
gave tough competition to state owned Indian
Airlines,who had enjoyed monopoly in domestic
market since 1953.
 It began international operations in 2004
 In July 2008, Which? magazine ranked Jet Airways
as the world's best long-haul airline after
Singapore Airlines.
 In a poll conducted by SmartTravelAsia.com in
September 2008, it was voted as the world's
seventh best airline overall.

Jet Airways
 Jet Airways serves 44 domestic destinations,
21 international destinations in 17 countries
across Asia, Europe and North America.
 Jet has special package of Jet Kids on board
specially for kids.
 Jet Airways offers a 5-star lounge facilities for
the First class & Executive class passengers.
 Jet also offers wide variety of special meals,
including Kosher meals on its International
destinations.
 Jet Airways has made a mark on the
premium class pax & continued its brand
image as an airline for the Class.
Segmentation
• The airline is positioned for customers who are willing to pay more for
better service (Punctuality & Quality of Service).
• Target Age Group
– 20-30 : Young professionals , affluent students
– 30-48 : Businessmen, Career women, Affluent service class
– 49-65 : High end businessmen, Senior executives, CEO’s
• Target Income : Rs 25K and above
• Target Educational Level : Graduates and above
Price & Distribution
 Being a premium brand, Jet Airways has a comparatively higher price
band.
 It follows Level 0 and Level 1 Distribution Strategies.
• Level 0 – Passengers can book tickets directly through their website
• Level 1 – Passengers can also book tickets through agents or multi
brand travel sites
• Jet follows the Selective Distribution Strategy as tickets is available
exclusively through the company website and also through travel
agents and travel sites which offer tickets of other airlines as well
Promotion
 Jet has introduced Frequent Flyer Programmes for its loyal passengers,
who in turn accumulate points per flight and redeem for free travel.
 Jet also has Jet Escape Packages , in liasion with 3star/5star Hotels across
the country.
 Jet promotes its special deals or special events through its web-site.

 The airline started operations on 9 May 2005.


 Kingfisher Airlines is one of six airlines in the world and the only one in
India to have a five-star rating from Skytrax
 It was the first Indian airline to have inflight entertainment (IFE) systems
on every seat even on domestic flights
 After Kingfisher Airlines acquired Air Deccan, its name was changed to
Kingfisher Red.
 Due to the impact of the crisis, Jet and Kingfisher have entered into an
alliance to rationalise routes and save costs
