BANDAGE

binder on the affected part. In its use even the bandage
is only used on the outside, for example on the feet,
hands, head and so on, while the gauze in addition to
being used on the outside of the gauze is also used for
surgery, as a wound cover so as not to be contaminated
and so on
The basic function of using this bandage is to protect the
wound from environmental bacteria, to absorb wound
secretions, to immobilize the wound and to provide
pressure that can help to prevent swelling and bleeding.
TYPES OF BANDAGE
1. Roll bandage
2. Tubular Bandage
3. Triangle bandage
BANDING MATERIALSThe
following materials are needed for bandage,
A. namely adhesive tape
B. gauze
C. gypsum pad
D. elastic bandage
E. sterile base ( if there are open wounds )
BANDAGE LAYER
1. Contact Layer
The first layer of bandage material will be a layer of
dressing or something like that. If the purpose of the
bandage is to protect the surgical incision or non-
infected wound, a layer of dressing will be made of
material that will not stick to the wound such as a non-
sticky gauze pad. If the wound is infected, a layer of
dressing will be made of sterile material that will stick
to the wound and help pull out the infection, or it will
contain drugs or other agents that will help in
controlling the infection.
2. Intermediate LayerThe purpose of the next layer of
dressing material is to help keep the pads in position,
and to apply several layers of bandages to the area to be
protected. In this layer can use gauze roll or a synthetic
cast layer. The thickness of this layer will vary according
to the type of injury.
3. Outer LayerThe third layer of this material is usually
made of elastic material that can stick by itself without
the adhesive. The purpose of this layer is to provide
further protection for the underlying layer and to help
prevent moisture from wicking to injury. The final layer
of bandage material is often given surgical tape, the
adhesive ability of the plaster drops to the end of the
bandage and causes the bandage to be attached to the
fur making it difficult for animals to remove the
bandage.
