System Description
• The POLDOS flow regulation conveyor is a
device for proportioned, continuous
conveying of fine-grained bulk materials
through horizontal and vertical piping.
• Conveying occurs pneumatically and is
based on the principle of thin flow
• In the standard design, the Poldos
proportioning feeder is suitable for
pulverulent to gritty materials at
temperatures up to 80 deg c.
• Bulk material conveying rate can be varied
within wide limits.
• A high degree of proportioning precision is
achieved over the whole operating range.
• Precise proportioning is based on good
servo behavior and the mathematically
precise calibration process.
POLDOS
Principle of Operation
• Pneumatic conveying systems have three
basic forms of operation, dense phase,
medium phase and lean phase (also known
as dilute phase). The method of lean phase
pneumatic conveying has been used from
the beginning of pneumatic conveying. With
lean phase conveying the ratio of conveying
product to conveying air is low. In most
cases the operating pressure of a lean phase
conveying system is under one bar.
• In dilute phase conveying, particles are fully
suspended in the conveying air and
transported at low pressure and high
velocity.
• Dilute phase pressure conveying is one of
the most common conveying methods for
powders or granules.
Principle of Operation
• The material is being conveyed in a
continuous manner, and is not accumulating
on the bottom of the conveying line at any
point.
• For Lean phase conveying, a relatively high
conveying air velocity must be maintained.
The typical velocity of dilute phase systems is
in the range of 5,000 ft./min. to 8,000
ft./min. It’s not a constant velocity, though;
there’s a pick-up velocity at the beginning of
the conveying and a terminal velocity at the
end, as well as acceleration throughout the
length of the line.
