CHAPTER 1: PROBLEM AND ITS
BACK GROUND
INTRODUCTION:
In our daily lives as students, we
continually use Social Media. Social networking
website is the order of nowadays. Internet sites
like Facebook and Twitter give birth to Social
Media marketing. Communications has been
made easier, it is very easy for us to send
messages and receive instantly. The development
and improvement of Technology has greatly
improved our lives. It lead us to better, easier
and very comfortable life. Education system has
become dominated by Social Media, nowadays it
is more possible for students to get access the
lectures being conducted through internet sites.
Social Media has greatly improved our lives.
In other words, the purpose of this study is to
know how Social Media affects the daily lives of
students in ANHS. We all know how students
nowadays are involved in terms of Social Media.
Through this high-tech gadgets and devices their
lives become easier. They easily access through
internet with just one-click at their gadgets.
We will conduct this study to the selected
students of Antipolo National High School in order
to know the different information about social
media.
Statement of the
problem:
The main objective of the study is to
determine the effects of using Social Media
to the daily lives of Grade-12 students of
ANHS. To promote awareness specifically,
this study to answers the following
questions:
1.What are the effects of Social Media in terms of:
1.1. Physical
1.2. Emotional
1.3. Social
2.What are the factors that causes Social Media addiction in
terms
2.1. Social factors
2.2. Personal factors
3.What are the factors that people involved in using social
media
3.1. Entertainment
3.2. Time
3.3. Addiction
4. What is the level of performance of the students in terms of
academics?
5. Is there a significance relationship between the effects of
using social media and academic performance of the ANHS
students?
PURPOSED OF THE STATEMENT
The investigators seek to know the different effects of
using social media even if it is negative or positive. In this
research you will know the advantages of modern technology
to the students in so many ways.

Central Questions:
What is Social Media?
Sub-Questions:
How students spent or engage their time in using social
media?
Other Questions:
Can social media really affect the lives of the students?
The Scope and Delimitation of the Study
Students that bring cellular phone inside
the school; continuous variables; cellphones are
very useful to the students. That hey can use it
during class hours.
Gadgets that they use for their study;
discrete variable; only few have different and
expensive gadgets that can use for study as well
as doing social media contact.
Spending time of using cellphone;
categorial variable student who spent so much
time in social media.
This study will conduct inside the
campus of ANHS. Specifically, all the
senior high school students. There
must be start as soon as possible so
that we all know the different use of
social media and be aware of it. All of
this is for the awareness and
betterment of each and every one of
us.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The beneficiaries on the certain topic that we have
a benefits in order to answer our given topic question and
for them to realize the effects of using social media.
To the students, it is very helpful to all the
students of ANHS because they all know the effects of
using social media even if it is negative or positive. So
that they were be able to minimize or lessen of using
social media.
To the teachers, it is a big a help for all the
teachers that their students can now focus on their
students and studies and also avoid using of social media
during class hours.
To the fellow researcher, it is very helpful for us
so that we can be also aware of social and for the
betterment of others and ourselves as a researcher.
