FARMERS FRIEND

INSTITUTION

INDIAN
INSTITUTE OF
TECHNOLOGY
THE PROBLEM
• As we know there is difficultly to farmers in identification of disease.
• Lack of prevention of crops from damage done by foreign species like birds.
• We intend to do work for the farmers through the technology that we are
providing. Our venture focuses on solving very small problems that a farmer
faces which most of the technology ignores.
• According to resources, 30 to 50 percent yield is decreased due to ineffective
treatment of plants diseases.
PROBLEM WITH EXISTING SOLUTION

• Most practices done to overcome the problem are inefficient and doesn’t
provide the solution on time.
• Predicting the diseases at the time of sowing and adding particular chemicals
to make it resistant to the diseases.
• Finding disease by seeing crop characteristics and adding amount of
chemicals by prediction.
OUR SOLUTION
• Disease detection with the help of image processing with the best possible
most efficient algorithm beating the existing solutions.
• Recognition of foreign species like birds with the distance dependence of
the species and buzzer alertness.
• Using weather forecast, detection of need to water the crops and humidity
of the soil.
HOW IT WORKS
• This device operates through app and the camera planted on the field gives
timely reading of the clearance of the field from the disturbance caused by
the birds. To detect the diseases of crops, farmer have to manually take
camera near to specified areas of crop and select the option available for the
detection and check the readings in the app for disease information and
viable fertilizers. Also the details of weather forecast relating the water
content in the soil needed to the crop, timely through app are notified.
MARKET STUDY
• The grain protectants market is estimated to be USD 572.7 million in 2018 and is
projected to reach USD 726.1 million by 2023, at a CAGR of 4.86%.
• The market is driven by the need to reduce grain losses due to plant diseases
because of the growing market pressure on farmers to gain better grain prices
during the post-harvest stage.
• However, the increasing insect pest resistance to certain active substances and
stringent regulations on maximum residue levels (MRLs) emphasize the need to
timely identification of the disease and spraying chemicals as per the need that are
effective and less hazardous to the environment and human health.
TARGET CUSTOMERS
• Our major target is on the large farmers who can easily afford the equipment
and efficiently use it to reduce the loses caused by diseases to the crops and
increase the productivity of the the crops.
• To provide the product to the small farmers through subsidised prices
provided by the government seeking the wastage of the grains and indirectly
increasing the economic stability of farmers and natives as well and solving
various social and economic problems of the country.
