ICT Lab Simulation in VR

• Project Definition: This Project Simulates/Creates all the individual components of the ICT
Laboratory in Virtual Reality Space and makes it easier for the technical people to understand
the underlying architecture and working of that particular component and the System to
which it belongs as a whole.

Inspiration for selecting VR
• Its undoubtedly one of the emerging field in the current Era of Technologies.

• There is a lot of Scope for Creativity and a window for Direct Implementation of
Imagination in this domain .

• Learning a new set of skills for Industrial and Technical Proficiency.

• For creating a platform/VR Application where detailed information about various

components/parts of the ICT module can be visualised and studied in a more
efficient way.
• Immersive Learning has been proven to positively impact on the job-
performance.
i. increased knowledge Retention
ii. Higher Employee Engagement
iii. Strengthening neural pathways to behavioural change
iv. Power of being within an environment prods memory.
v. No risk inclusion as testing(Simulation) will be done in VR.

• Scalable
i. Eliminate the need to fly costly consultants across the geography.

ii. Ensuring nothing is lost in translation or delivery when VR learning keeps

content consistent.
• Engaging:
i. Interactive learning makes highly engaging experiences which demand 100%
user attention.

ii. Students can easily learn and work on the models made in VR before actually
working on the Hardware.

iii. Students can review the underlying structural details of the components
(which are not recognized by the naked eyes )with the minutest details on
Mobile VR Headset and their smartphones as well.
Purpose/Objectives
• To make learning/studying the subjects related to hardware .i.e. here, ICT really
fun and interesting to learn for the students by giving them both Virtual and
hands-on Experience with the Interface and Components .

• It also assists the faculties in a way that reduces burden on their shoulders at
some level.

• Exploring the Field of Virtual Reality and developing such a facility that is
applicable in the computer Sciences .
Advantages
• Simulation of understanding the working of various basic and vital components
in depth before operating on them in Real-time.

• Before going through the Senior/Advanced Subjects like Computer Architecture &
Organisation and Operating Systems and Computer Networking students know
the memory architecture , Cpu & Microprocessor structure and design of
Routers.

• Can be used for Trouble-shooting.

• Can be extended to Augmented Reality Project in the Future.

Technologies we are using
• Blender is a professional, free and open-source 3D computer graphics software
toolset used for creating animated films , visual effects, art, 3D printed models,
interactive 3D applications and video games.

• Blender's features include 3D modelling, UV unwrapping, texturing, raster

graphics editing, rigging and skinning, fluid and smoke simulation, particle
simulation, soft body simulation, sculpting, animating, match moving, camera
tracking, rendering, motion graphics, video editing and compositing. It also
features an integrated game engine.

• We are using Blender for Object Designing and small scale Animation Efftects as
and when required.
Unity is a cross-platform game engine developed by Unity Technologies, first
announced and released in June 2005 at Apple Inc.'s Worldwide Developers
Conference as an OS X-exclusive game engine. As of 2018, the engine has been
extended to support 27 platforms.

Unity gives users the ability to create games in both 2D and 3D, and the engine offers a primary scripting API in C#, for both the
Unity editor in the form of plugins, and games themselves, as well as drag and drop functionality.
• The Unity editor is supported on Windows and macOS, with a version of the
editor available for the Linux platform, albeit in an experimental stage while the
engine itself currently supports building games for 27 different platforms.

• The platforms are listed as the following: iOS, Android, Tizen, Windows, Universal
Windows Platform, Mac, Linux, WebGL, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox
One, Wii U, 3DS, Oculus Rift, Google Cardboard, SteamVR, PlayStation VR, Gear
VR, Windows Mixed Reality, Daydream, Android TV, Samsung Smart
TV, tvOS, Nintendo Switch, Fire OS, Facebook Gameroom, Apple's ARKit,
Google's ARCore, and Vuforia.

• We are utilizing Unity For Creating more sophisticated Animation like click and
disperse with Information response module .
