• What is meant by internet (interconnection-


networking)? Understanding internet is a global
communication network that connects billions of
computer networks openly using a standard global
transmission control protocol / internet protocol
suite (TCP / IP) system.
• The internet stands for Interconnection Networking
where every computer connected to the internet
network has a unique called an IP adress (Internet
Protocol Address).

 1969 : APRANET (Advanced Research Project Agency Network).
 1971 : The First Email.
 1983 : TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol)
 1990 : Berners-Lee and his team working at CERN (the European
organization for nuclear research) created the World Wide Web
(www).
 2000 : Became the starting point for the use of social this is
evidenced by the appearance of TheFacbook.com by Mark
Zuckerberg.
 2009 : 40th anniversary or Internet anniversary.

METHOD ACCESS OF THE INTERNET

There are two access methods direct and Indirect and these can be either
fixed or mobile.
 Indirect Access
The device like computer connects to a network using Ethernet or WiFi
and the network connects to the Internet using ADSL, cable or fibre.
 Direct Access
This is most common method used when traveling.
The device e.g. smart phone connects directly to the Internet using
3G/4G mobile networks or public Wi-Fi.

INTERNET
1. You have choosing an internet service provider
There are diferent types of internet connection that you can have ;
 Dial-Up, Connects to your phone line, it’s usually much slower than
other types of internet connection.But,some areas it may be the only
option available.
 DSL Cable, DSL plugs into your phone line, and Cable, uses your cable
TV Connection. These are both known as Broadband internet
connection because they offer much faster speed than dial up.
 3G/4G , There are types of wireless internet connection often used by
smartphones.
No Matter what kind of internet service you choose, you’ll need to
purchase it from an ISP (Internet Service Provider).

2. The Hardware necessary to connect and Setting up your computer to internet
Your ISP will guide you through the entire process of connecting to the internet.
Your ISP may also give you a modem and set it up for you. The instruction will
vary, but the basic idea is that you’ll connect the modem to your phone jack or
cable TV connection, and then connect your computer to the modem using an
Ethernet cable. Once you have everything set up, you can open your web
browser and begin using the internet.

a wireless router, which takes the internet connection from your
