 Tonio grew up in a poor
family where he learned the
importance of hardwork.
When he was in high school,
Tonio would sell newspaper
and buy craps to help pay his
school fees.
• It was his TLE class that Tonio learned
he was good at woodwoking. He also
realized that his craft would make
him his future, so he made sure that
woodworking would be in his future
track. After graduating from high
school, lack of finances hindered
Tonio a college education. Instead,
he was obliged to work in a furniture
company.
• When he was 20, Tonio had to
look for a new job. The furniture
company where he was working
eventually closed. But instead of
applying in other companies, he
decided to start his own furniture
business. He raised money from
his savings and through loans.
• To save his limited capital, Tonio did not
hire any helper. He budgeted his money
very carefully, spending most of it on good
tools and materials. He worked long hours
creating clever designs to hotels,
restaurants, and resorts. Most of them liked
his work that they recommended these to
other businessmen. Soon enough, Tonio got
big orders and his business grew beyond his
expectations
•Today, Tonio owns one
of the most successful
furniture companies in
the Philippines, and is
yet again starting
another venture-his
driftwood furniture
