DEFINITION OF DRUG

•A drug, broadly speaking, is any chemical substance that, when absorbed

into the body of a living organism, alters normal bodily function.

•There is no single, precise definition, as there are different meanings in

drug control law, government regulations, medicine, and colloquial usage.

•In pharmacology, Dictionary.com defines a drug as "a chemical substance

used in the treatment, cure, prevention, or diagnosis of disease or used to
otherwise enhance physical or mental well-being.

•Drugs may be prescribed for a limited duration, or on a regular basis for

chronic disorders.
TYPES OF DRUG

There are many different kinds of drugs. Some are legal and some are illegal. The drugs listed within this website are illegal
drugs. The main groups of drugs or categories are Depressants, Stimulants, and Hallucinogens.

•Depressants (Downers)
Depressants are called "Downers" because they slow down the body into a relaxed state. The Central Nervous System of
your body is not as active.
Examples of Depressants:
Alcohol (beer, wine, liquor), Barbiturates, Benzodiazephines, Heroin, and Solvents

•Stimulants (Uppers)
Stimulants are called "Uppers" because they make you feel very awake. You feel like you have a lot of energy. These drugs
speed up your Central Nervous System.
Examples of Stimulants:
Tobacco, Caffeine, Ecstasy, Crack, Amphetamines, Anabolic Steroids, Cocaine

•Hallucinogens
Hallucinogens are the drugs that make you feel like you are seeing things that aren't really there. They play tricks on your
mind.
Examples of Hallucinogens:
LSD, Magic Mushrooms, Cannabis

TYPES OF DRUG ABUSE
Alcohol
Some symptoms of dependence on alcohol are shakiness, nausea, rapid heartbeat, sweating and anxiety.
Alcohol damages your liver, brain and heart. Test show that an alcoholic’s brain reacts differently to alcohol than
non-alcoholics.

Nicotine
Nicotine does not have a very long lasting effect. This causes nicotine users to smoke or chew tobacco more.
The United States Government has not declared nicotine addictive or illegal. When people smoke it changes
the way their mind works so that they need the nicotine again and again.

Drugs

Many drugs abused are illegally but some are prescription. Opiates are drugs made from plants. Another way
drugs are made is in a lab; these drugs are called designer drugs. Sale of illegal drugs is against the law in the
United States of America. Usually people get drugs from friends or dealers. Today people can get drugs off the
Internet. All they need is a web address,  their credit card number and their mailing address.

Inhalants

A drug that enters the body through breathing is an inhalant. Inhalants are more commonly used by teenagers
than any other age. Inhalants can be found in many household items.  Inhalants cause brain damage, lung damage,
coma or even death.
  All narcotics are very dangerous

EFFECT OF DRUG
•Recreational drugs are chemical substances that affect the central nervous system, such as
opioids or hallucinogens.
•They may be used for perceived beneficial effects on perception, consciousness, personality,
and behavior.
•Some drugs can cause addiction and habituation.
•Drugs are usually distinguished from endogenous biochemicals by being introduced from
outside the organism.
•For example, insulin is a hormone that is synthesized in the body; it is called a hormone when
it is synthesized by the pancreas inside the body, but if it is introduced into the body from
outside, it is called a drug

Advantage of drug
•For medicine
•For example, insulin is a hormone that is synthesized in the body; it is called a hormone when it is

called a drug.

•Inhaled, (breathed into the lungs), as a vapor
•Injected as a liquid either: intramuscular, intravenous, intraperitoneal, intraosseous
•Rectally as a suppository, that is absorbed by the colon.
•Vaginally as a suppository, primarily to treat vaginal infections.
•Bolus, a substance into the stomach to dissolve slowly
•Insufflation, or snorted into the nose.

Disadvantage of drug

•Heroin can also harm you in another way. You can catch diseases by sharing the needle. You can get
H.I.V., suffer liver damage, lung infections, body poisoning, and your veins can even collapse.

•Heroin gives affects your respiratory system, making breathing very difficult. You may feel like you
have athsma because of this, when you don't have it under normal conditions when you are not taking
this drug.

•Heroin can cause the brain cells to become highly active.

•Cocaine can also harm your brain because it kills brain cells.

•Cocaine might make you feel excited, feel hungry, feel dizziness, experience depression,
hallucinations, and headaches, too.
CONCLUSION
•These are the major reasons why people turn to drugs. Some people can't resist feeling
the way they feel when they take the drugs, so they continue to turn to drugs to solve
their problems or fit into a social group.

•Whatever the reason is, it's not the right thing to do, so we should not follow their
examples. There are other solutions to problems rather than solving them with drugs.

• Beside, it's not something you want to do, and you spend a lot of money on them.
Imagine all the money you would be able to save if you don't do drugs.
