INTRODUC TION
Any organization to develop and achieve high growth, attitude of
the employees working in the organization should be very
positive and of high morale. When the morality & the attitude of
all the employees are very high, it is sure that the organization
will remain sustained in a higher position. Attitudes are
important because they are the mechanism through which most
people express their feelings. In general, attitude is an
“individual’s point of view an individuals way of looking at
something”.
The project aims at studying and analyzing the employee’s
attitude & perception
of factors at “SAME DEUTZ-FAHR INDIA (P) Limited.”
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
 PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

 To study the Quality of work life (QWL) of employees in SAME


DEUTZ-FAHR INDIA.

 SECONDARY OBJECTIVES

 To know the existing working conditions and industrial health


helps to improve the QWL.
 To find out employees attitude towards benefits and safety
measures by the organization.
 To find out employees attitude towards working environment.
 To find out the attitude of employees toward their jobs.
 To study the relationship pattern between employees.
 To find out how quality of work life leads to high satisfaction.
NEED FOR THE STUDY

• To enable the management to know about the areas to be


concentrated to improve employees working life.
• To provide the management with Feedback of the employees.
• To communicate with the Management where the workers are
loosing their interest about the company on some qualities like
Working comfort, Physical Conditions, Work timing, Team
Relationship , etc,
• To take the immediate action or measures if necessary for the
betterment of the performance.
SCOPE OF THE STUDY

 Quality of work life covers various aspects under the


general umbrella of supportive organizational behavior.
Thus, the QWL should be broad in it scope. If must
evaluate the attitude of the employees towards the personal
policies.

 This research can be further use to evaluate the facilities


provided by the management towards the employees.
 This research is done at its fullest scope can highlight some
of the most critical and intricate information on the quality
of work life.

 This study also helps in manipulating the basic expectation


of the employees.
LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

 As like any other research work, this studies also its own
limitation.
 The study was conducted in SAME DEUTZ-FAHR INDIA
(P) LTD, Ranipet.
 The respondents may have expressed them strong negative
feeling about the policies.
 The researcher has collected data from the employees at all
level. As some of the workers are not able to understand
the question in correct angle, it may chance of occurrence
of non-response error.
 Bias on the part of the researcher could have occurred in
collecting data & interpreting the data.
COMPANY PROFILE
 The makers of the world’s first Diesel Tractors:
SAME DEUTZ-FAHR India is a 100% owned subsidiary
company of the SAME DEUTZ-FAHR group of Italy – the
pioneers and one of the world leaders in the field of tractors,
transmission and diesel engines.
 The SAME DEUTZ-FAHR GROUP, Italy commenced
manufacturing diesel tractors in the year 1927 and today
owns the four most prestigious brands of SAME,
LAMBORGINI, DEUTZ-FAHR & HURLIMAN with
manufacturing facilities in Italy, Germany, Poland and
India. The group’s range include tractors virtually for all
appliances from 25HP to 260 HP and a distribution network
of over 3000 partners spread across the globe.
 In India, the SAME group made foray in the year 1999 as a
joint venture with the GREAVES group and setup engine
and tractor plant in the industrial township of Ranipet in
Tamil nadu, about 100 kilometers west in Chennai. This
joint venture was ended in June 2002 when the group
decided to take 100% control, in the name and style of
SAME DEUTZ-FAHR INDIA (SDF India).
 Today, SAME DEUTZ-FAHR INDIA manufactures and
markets the state of-art SAME tractors and diesel tractors from
39 to 60 HP, with impending plans to soon add tractors of 35 HP
and 70 HP, with 2WD and 4WD engine versions.

 SAME tractors are making fast in roads into the Indian sub-
continent. The SDF India produced tractors are also being
exported to srilanka, Nepal, Africa and Chile. To service the
growing aspiration of Indian farmers, the company has already
established a network of 13 branches and over 200 dealers at
strategic location in the sub-continent.

“Quality of work life is the degree to which members of a work
organization are able to satisfy important personal needs through
their experiences in the organization.

Quality of Working Life is conceptually similar to well-being of


employees but differs from job satisfaction which solely represents
the workplace domain.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research can be defined as an organized, systematic, data based,
critical, objective, scientific inquiry or investigation into a specific
problem undertaken with the purpose of finding answers or
solutions to it.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE
To study the “Quality of work life” in SAME DEUTZ-FAHR
INDIA Pvt Ltd.
SOURCES OF DATA
PRIMARY DATA
Primary data was collected by the method of survey by using questionnaire
SECONDARY DATA
Secondary data pertaining to this study was obtained from company’s record
websites and books.
RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
A Structured Questionnaire have been framed which
contains close ended question.
SAMPLING

SAMPLING UNIT
The survey is on workers of SAME DEUTZ-FAHR INDIA Pvt Ltd,
Ranipet.

SAMPLING SIZE
The sample size is 50 Workers’.

SAMPLING PROCEDURE
The sampling procedure that was adopted in the research was
Simple random sampling, a group of people are selected at random from a
complete list or map of a given population.

SAMPLING AREA
The research was conducted in various departments of SAME
DEUTS FAHR which includes Production, Stores, Logistics and Quality.

CHI-SQUARE TEST
Chi-square test is used to find out whether there
exists relationship among various groups.
The chi – square test statistical is computed as

The calculated value chi-square is compared with the table value


of chi-square for given degree of freedom at specified level of
significance. If calculated value >table value then the null
hypothesis is rejected and if calculated value< table null
hypothesis is accepted.
FINDINGS
 48% of respondent are highly satisfied with their job in the firm while
8% are highly dissatisfied with their job
 100% of respondents have agreed that the management provides all sort
of safety equipments and security in the floor.
 Majority of respondents (98%) agreed that their work place is neat,
clean and ventilated properly.
 There are 68% of respondents who feel that their work timings are
convenient to them while 30% of them disagreed to the same point.
 22% of respondents agree that they can balance their work and personal
life. But 60% of respondents said that they have work life balance at some
times. Others never have balance between work and personal life.
 54% of respondents feel that work gives main satisfaction in life. While
18% of respondents don’t think satisfaction in life arrives out of work.
 42% of the respondents have satisfied with their monthly income. While
18% of the respondents strongly disagree with that.
 Good number of respondents (100%) agreed that the management
provides festival bonuses.
 28% of the respondents have agreed that they have good interpersonal
relationship sometimes with their colleagues and management. 68%agreed that
they have good interpersonal relationship always. Very few (4%) never have it.
 60% of the respondents have agreed that they are treated with respect in the
work place. 38% have strongly agreed to the same
point.
 Most of the respondents have maintained proper work environment (96%).
Only 4% doesn’t care about that.
 Good number of respondents (86%) has agreed that the management provides
hygiene food and snacks. Very few (4%) percent of the respondents says that they
never had good food and snacks.
 98% of the respondents have agreed that the management provides good
drinking water and they have proper washing facilities. Only 2% of the
respondents disagrees with that
 58%of the respondents are highly satisfied with the medical facilities provided
to them. 6% of the respondents are satisfied. While 10%of the respondents are
highly dissatisfied.
 100% of respondents have said that the management provides them uniform,
shoes, transport facilities.
 62% of the respondents strongly agree that they are rewarded based on their
performance. At the same time 20% of respondents have disagreed with the
reward system.
 More then the half of the respondents said that they receive training and
coaching “Always” and sixteen percentage ensured that they never receive
training and coaching.
 As a whole Hundred percent of the respondents have said that they are
aware of the safety measures provided to them to the maximum.
The hot core of this research justified by the statistics given below
Eighty percentage of respondents have said that they always receive
enough welfare facilities by the management.
Twenty percentage of respondents’ opinion is that sometimes they
receive the welfare facilities.
 Fifty eight percentage of respondents have agreed that the management
conducts annual tour, sports and other entertainment. Thirty two percent of
the respondents strongly agree to the same point. Very few (2%) strongly
disagree and (8%) disagree to the same.
 Good number of respondents (100%) maintains discipline in the work place.
Most of the respondents (60%) strongly agree that they have good canteen
facilities. Seventeen percent have agreed to the same point. Very few (6%)
disagree with them.
 From the study it is found that Ninety six percentage of respondents have
said that proper house keeping is maintained. While few (4%) of
respondents have told that house keeping is not good.
 It is found that Forty eight percent of the respondents are satisfied with the paid
leave. Fifty two of the respondents strongly agree to the same point.
 As a whole most of the respondents (100%) know what is expected from their
job.
 Good number (96%) of the respondents feels proud to work in SAME DEUTZ
FAHR. Very few (4%) feel moderate to the same point.
 Hundred percent of the respondents views is that they receive enough help and
equipment to the maximum to perform the job.
 Fifty percent of the respondents express that sometimes their job requires
forceful movements. Eighteen percent of the respondents have said always to the
same point. Thirty two percent have stated that never.
 Forty six percent of the respondents have work experience of more than 3 years.
Eight percent of the respondents have work experience of three years. 18%
percent of the respondents have work experience of two years. Twenty eight
percent of the respondents have work experience of less than one year.
 Most (90%) of the respondents are working in rotating shift.
Ten percent of respondents work schedule is general shift.
SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Most of the findings have been proved that the Quality of
work life is good in SAME DEUTZ-FAHR INDIA Pvt Ltd.
However few Suggestions are provided for consideration.
In order to make training fruitful, it is suggested to provide
more training programme to motivate and empower the
employees so as to develop their personality.
The employees’ should be given adequate medical facilities.
The employees’ who are all feeling tough can be provided
convenient work timings like general shift than rotating shift.
Hygienic food and good drinking water should be provided to
the employees’.
Three way communication at all levels in the working area is
must.
In order to give relaxation from their routine work management
can enhance sports activities to the employees’ which in turn can
improve their work life and increase performance.
CONCLUSION
The findings presented are based on the present situation and
further improvement will be possible by considering the suggestions.
The data has been analyzed and found the level of Quality of work
life of the workers in the organization is good.
Eighty percentages of respondents have said that the employer
Provides all type of welfare facilities to the employees’.
So the researcher has brought out the suggestions to the employers
to strengthen the relationship between the management and the
employees’ to avoid conflicts.
 It sounds the company is doing its parts in all the ways to
maintain good Quality of Work Life.
 The researcher concludes the study with a statement that Quality
of work life is high.
