Introductio • Students also struggle with the amount of things they
have to carry for the day. Dealing with a heavy bag

n during the day could be really tiring and is a big burden

as well. Our team came up with the idea of a locker, but
not just any locker but a smart one. Instead of using the
usual padlock to secure our things inside, we thought
of using a fingerprint-based security. There are a lot of
complications that might happen if we are using
padlock like the key could get lost or stolen and it could
also be opened using bobby pins or paper clips. But
when we use a fingerprint sensor to access the locker, it
would be much safer since it would only be accessible
using our very own fingerprint.
Methodolog Materials needed:
• IRFZ44N
y • Solenoid Lock
• FingerPrint Sensor
• Arduino Uno R3
• Power Adapter
Step 1: Making
the locker
• Take 6 6x6” of Plywood and put it together. Screw 2 door hinge
onto the plywood that will serve as the opening and closing
door. Put a door handle. Trace a small square to get some space
for the fingerprint sensor. Once you’ve cut the mark, screw the
solenoid door lock at the back of the door and then insert the
fingerprint scanner. Stick the Arduino UNO R3 to the top of the
fingerprint scanner. On the fingerprint scanner, cut the blue and
green ones then you will be left with 4 wires. White = Pin 3,
Yellow = Pin 2 , Blck = (-) GND, Red = +5V. Connect the wires to
the Arduino with their respective pin. On your IRFZ44N, glue the
middle to the solenoid lock blue wire and then insert it to the
Arduino with the left side = (-) GND, right side = Pin 12. Connect
the solenoid lock red wire to Vcc.
• Connect a power adaptor to the Arduino and connect it to the
PC then upload the codes below to the Arduino.

fingerprint sensor)

Related •  According to Stanley Goodner of Lifewire, a fingerprint
scanner is a type of electronic security system that uses

Literature fingerprints for biometric authentication to grant a

user access to information or to approve transactions.
Basically, a fingerprint scanner is mostly used for
security purposes and identification wherein it just
gives a signal whether the person who scans is a
recognized or an intruder.

As stated by Technopedia, A fingerprint scanner is a

type of technology that identifies and authenticates
the fingerprints of an individual in order to grant or
deny access to a computer system or a physical facility.
Because security measures is the top reason on why we
use fingerprint scanners because of its reliability on the
job.
Conclusion • The design and implementation of our fingerprint
locker is based on high accuracy rate and is also quick
to recognize fingerprints which enable seamless
integration with the users and provide tighter security.
In today’s world, security is our primary job, but most
students cannot find a way to provide security to their
confidentially belonging manually. Instead of using the
usual padlock to secure our things inside the locker,
fingerprints with arduino has a high degree of security
with no manual flaws. And also, fingerprint doesn't
need to spend so much time, this security will
recognize the finger quickly.
Recommendati • The production of this paper has not been easy because
of the time allotted to us. There are a lot of adjustments

on and improvements that can and should be made to

perform future projects with ease. One recommendation
is to finish the work as early as possible, procrastination
should always be avoided and it is especially not
advisable to apply the method in making a research
paper. Recommendations about the prototype are as
follows: A.) Make sure that the prototype has its purpose,
B.) Prototype is usable for audiences and that the
audience knows how to use the prototype, C.) Make sure
that the project is in line with the creator's skills, D.)
Ensure that materials are complete, confirm if items
have not been taken damage of any kind that may cause
errors to the prototype, E.) Make sure that the materials
needed are functional, and be as cautious as possible. F.)
Make sure the prototype works before presenting it.
