TOPIC: LEISURE TIME
1. Since Tet, have you had a lot of free time or not? (Yes I have / no I
haven’t + why)
2. What have you been doing with your time? (I’ve been …ing….)
3. How have you been feeling in the last few months? (I’ve been feeling…)

I will put you in threes in breakout rooms (different rooms) for a few minutes.
Discuss these questions. Have some answers ready in case you are chosen
to answer when we return to this main classroom!
PRACTICING SCREEN-
SHARING
 We are going to play Pictionary with shared screens.
 I will message you a leisure time activity or object.
 You must share your screen and draw the object. No speaking, no writing!
 The first student to raise their hand and answer correctly can choose the
next student to draw.
 Let’s practice…. I will draw first.
PRACTICING USING
BREAKOUT ROOMS AND
CHAT
 I will put you in breakout rooms in threes
 You must write an activity for every letter of the alphabet, from A to Z (you can use
these examples for the first three letters but if you do you won’t get a point for that
answer)
 E.g.
 A = athletics
 B = basketball
 C = cooking

 You are allowed to miss out up to 10 letters (for example ‘X’ which is very difficult!)
 You must agree your list, return to the main classroom (click ‘Leave breakout room’) and
type your list in the chat.
 You will get a point for each correct answer and the first
team to complete the task will get a bonus 5 points.
 Good luck!
ANY QUESTIONS?

Thanks and have a great day!

PRACTICING USING
REACTIONS
 Do you remember how to do a reaction? The ‘thumbs up’?
 You will hear me talking about what I have been doing during the
lockdown.
 Listen carefully and make a note (using pen and paper) of which answers
are TRUE and which are FALSE.
 E.g. The Vietnamese flag has some green on it
 For TRUE, send a thumbs up
 For FALSE, send nothing

 Let’s practice that together…

LISTENING – TRUE OR
FALSE?
 True or false? Use thumbs up for true and press nothing for false.

 Emma is in Vietnam T/F

 She flew back after two weeks in the UK T/F
 She is in a big house T/F
 She has been gardening T/F
 She has been doing very little cooking T/F
 She finds playing video games stressful T/F
 She misses socialising with her friends T/F
VIDEO: LOCKDOWN
ACTIVITIES
 You’re now going to watch a video of ideas for things to do in a lockdown.
 Make some notes of your favourite ideas!
PART 2 SPEAKING PRACTICE
 You will be working in groups of three to prepare an answer
to the following Part 2 speaking task:

Describe what you have been doing with your free time during the corona
virus lockdown.
You should say:

• What you’ve been doing

• Why, where and with whom you have been doing these activities
• Some things that you haven’t been able to do and are missing

and how you are feeling about the lockdown.

GENERAL TIPS FOR PART 2
 Try and talk about every part of the question (activities and feeling)
 Try to use linking words to help you to speak for longer
 And, so, although, however, because, but….

 Remember that it is okay to lie. IF all you have been doing is sleeping and
eating, don’t tell the truth! You need to show that you can talk about a number of
different ways to spend leisure time. This is a rare time when lying is ok!
 You can find some extra vocabulary and ideas at
https://wheeldecide.com/?id=423992
 Aim to speak for 2 minutes
 Don’t write full sentences– just make short notes
 You will have to choose one student to deliver their answer to the whole class
after the preparation time.
PART 2 SPEAKING PRACTICE
 You now have 10 minutes to prepare. Remember I can hear you in the
breakout rooms, so make sure you are working hard and speaking English!
After 10 minutes, we will meet back in the main class.

virus lockdown.
You should say:

• What you’ve been doing

• Why, where and with whom you have been doing these activities
