EXTREME SPORT

Кристияна Стойкова
What is an extreme sport?
Nowadays, people get used to everything that is ordinary and it
seems to be boring. Extreme sport is an activity which involves risk
of death or serious injuries.
The list of extreme sport are really long, from volcano boarding to
cave diving, bungee jumping to kitesurfing. Here are some of really
adrenaline- packed adventure sports:
1.Wingsuit flying – it’s just like parachutıng without it…with what?
The wingsuit is designed in a way to have a larger surface area than
the standard human body, thereby allowing ample lift, improved
steering capacities and achieving maximum hang time in the air.
You need an experience in parachuting –about 200 jumps.
2. Volcano boarding – it’s just like sledding but…
where?
Down an active volcano, using your heels to brake and
steer with a speed of 90 km/hr.
Why is it really dangerous?
You can crash into sharp volcanic rocks and at that speed
can be really harmful.
Equipment: Special protective googles, one-peace suit for
crash protection and leather work gloves.
Destination: Leon, Nicaragua

it’s extreme… 
Is that really extreme…?

3. XPogo – jump with a stick…?

Xpogo involves all type of tricks, flips and

jumps up to 3 meters. All this riding and
performing tricks are on specially designed
“extreme” pogo sticks.
Using a pogo stick, you can perform skillful
yet dangerous moves. This relatively new
sport is already increasing its fan base
because of its thrilling nature.
4. Slackling – it’s not just walking…
Is that really extreme…? Slackling is walking or balancing along
a suspended length of webbing that is
stretched between two anchors. It is
similar to slack rope walking.
Slacklines are tensioned significantly
less than tightropes or tight wires in
order to create a dynamic line which
will stretch and bounce like a long and
narrow trampoline.
Slacklining definitely requires
maintaining concentration, fitness,
balance skills, and core strength.
5.Parkour
Also known as freerunning, parkour is the art of moving
from one point to another without using any aid or
equipment. Initially intended for military training, parkour
has become an urban extreme sport practiced in complex
locations where participants use running, jumping and
climbing to their greatest ability to overcome urban and
natural obstacles. That being said, parkour calls for a lot
of balance, body strength and problem-solving skills.
