Adverbs have three degrees of
comparison: positive, comparative, and
superlative.

The positive degree does not show


any comparison.
To form the comparative degree
of most adverbs, add –er to the words

Example:
fast - faster
hard – harder
Adverb ending in ly from their comparative
degree by using the words more or less.

Example:
gracefully - more gracefully or less
gracefully

frequently – more frequently or less

To form the superlative degree of
adverbs, add -est to the words.
Adverbs ending in ly use the words
most or least in the superlative
degree.

Example:
gracefully – most/ least gracefully
