nodules.

Diagnosis
• The diagnosis of scabies is drawn mainly from the
contact history ,the typical skin lesions ,the intense
pruritus(especially at night). The direct evidence is
finding mite or its eggs under the microscope.
Prevention
• 1.Close skin-to skin contact with the infested individuals
should be avoided .
• 2.Sterilizing the patients’clothing and bed linens in boiling
water is recommended.
• 3.Intimate contacts ,especially family members ,should
ideally be inspected and simultaneously treated with
scabicides if affected.
Treament
• The major treatment for scabicides is topical
scabicides. One of the following can be chosen:
• 1.10% sulfur ointment(5% for infants.), once daily for
5days ,This is the first drug, It is also currently available
to buy the drug.
Treament
• 2.1% lindane cream ,twice daily for 2 to 3 days.
Treament
• Topical or intranodular giucocorticoids and liquid nitrogen
cryotherapy are effective for scabietic nodules .
Matters needing attention
• 1.The topical scabicides must be maintained over the
entire body surface during the treatment(except the
head and face of adults),and may be washed off only
24 hours after the last application .
• 2.Oral antihistamines may be used for alleviating
intense pruritus,for example ,the clarityne.
