Lubricating oil system

KUBOTA engines have lubricating system of

full pressure feed type.
This system consists of an oil strainer (13),
oil pump (14), relief valve (12), oil filter cartridge (11),
oil cooler (10) (some models) and
oil pressure switch (2).
The oil pump sucks lubricating oil from the oil
pan through the oil strainer and the oil flows down
to the oil filter, cartridge where it is further filtered.
Then the oil is forced to crankshaft (15), connecting
rods (9), idle gear (16),governor shaft (17), camshaft
(6), rocker arm shaft (3)
and fuel injection pump unit (7) (some models) to
lubricate each part through the oil gallery.
Some part of oil, splashed by the crankshaft or
leaking and
dropping from gaps of each part, lubricates following
parts.
• Pistons (8)
• Cylinder walls
• Small ends of connecting rods
• Tappets (5)
(1) Rocker Arm, (2) Oil Pressure Switch, (3) Rocker Arm Shaft • Push rods (4)
(4) Push Rod, (5) Tappet, (6) Camshaft, • Intake and exhaust valves (18)

Oil pressure switch

The oil pressure switch is mounted on the cylinder

block and is led to the lubricating oil passage.
When the oil pressure falls below the specified value,
the oil pressure-warning lamp lights.
[A] At the proper oil pressure
When the engine is started and as the proper oil
pressure builds, the diaphragm (4) is pushed up. This
separates the contact rivet (5) and breaks the circuit,
causing the lamp to go out.
[B] At lower oil pressure, 49 kPa (0.50 kgf/cm2,
7.1 psi) or less
If the oil pressure drops, the resulting deflection of
the diaphragm (4) will close the contact rivet (5) and
again complete the circuit. The lighted lamp warns that
the pressure of the lubricating system has dropped
below the pressure setting.

Fuel filter [A]

A standard Dynapac filter uses a paper cartridge
element (filtration diameter less than 15 μm).
Filtration surface areas available in Dynapac filter
are 250 cm2 (38.8 sq.in.), 1100 cm2 (170.5 sq.in.) and
1660 cm2 (257.3 sq.in.), according to engine model.
Normally, filter elements or cartridges must be
changed every 400 hours.
Type 1 [C] is cartridge element.
Type 2 [D] filter is installed in the fuel line with an [B]
electromagnetic fuel feed pump
