THEODOLITE
• Theodolite is used to measure the horizontal and vertical
angles.

• Theodolite is more precise than magnetic compass.

• Magnetic compass measures the angle up to as accuracy of

30’. However a vernier theodolite measures the angles up
to and accuracy of 10’’, 20”.

• There are variety of theodolite vernier, optic, electronic etc.

DUMPY LEVEL
• A dumpy
level/automatic level,
is an optical levelling
instrument used in
surveying to
determine the
heights of different
points relative to
each other.
GIS
• A GIS is an organized collection of computer
hardware, software, geographic data, and
personnel to efficiently capture, store, update,
manipulate, analyze, and display all forms of
geographically referenced information.
• A GIS integrates spatial and other kinds of
information within a single system to provide
a consistent framework for analyzing
geographic (spatial) data.
Another definition of GIS - An internally referenced,
automated, spatial information system for data
mapping, management, and analysis

GPS
• Orbiting navigational satellites
– Transmit position and time data
• Handheld receivers calculate
– latitude
– longitude
– altitude
– velocity
• Developed by Department of Defense
Authority of USA
APPLICATION OF GPS TECHNOLOGY

• Location - determining a basic position

• Navigation - getting from one location to
another
• Tracking - monitoring the movement of people
and things
• Mapping - creating maps of the world
• Timing - bringing precise timing to the world
EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR
SITE DEVELOPMENT
• Drilling is the operation of
DRILLERS producing circular hole in the
work-piece by using a rotating
cutter called DRILL.

• The machine used for drilling is

called drilling machine.
• The work piece is held
stationary i.e. Clamped in
position and the drill rotates to
make a hole.

• The most common drill used is

the TWIST DRILL .
DETONATOR
A small amount of
explosive required
for a blast which
explodes first and
causes a large
explosion, or an
electrical device
which is used from
a distance to make
an explosive
explode.
EXCAVATORS & LOADERSS
• construction machines used
for excavation is broadly
classified as a crane-shovel
as shown in fig . A tractor
consists of a crawler
mounting and a non-
revolving cab. When an
earth moving blade is
attached to the front end of
a tractor, the assembly is
called a bulldozer. When a
bucket is attached to its
front end, the assembly is
known as a loader
COMPACTING & GRADING
MACHINES
• The function of compaction
equipment is to produce higher
density in soil mechanically. Some
major types of compaction
equipment are shown in Figure ,
which includes rollers with different
operating characteristics.
• The function of grading equipment is
to bring the earthwork to the desired
shape and elevation. Major types of
grading equipment include motor
graders and grade trimmers
EQUIPMENT USED FOR
MAKING CONSTRUCTION
MATERIAL
CONCRETE MIXTURES
• As of all of the construction materials most
commonly used , concrete is the only material
which need to be prepared constantly during
the construction process by mixing the
ingredients in specified ratios. This mixing can
be done either:
1. Manually: done with the help of labour
2. Mechanically: with the help of concrete
mixtures
CONCRETE MIXTURES
• By definition a concrete
mixer is a device that
combines cement,
aggregate such as sand or
gravel, and water to form
concrete. A typical concrete
mixer uses a revolving drum
to mix the components. For
smaller volume works
portable concrete mixers
are often used so that the
concrete can be made at
the construction site, giving
the workers ample time to
use the concrete before it
hardens.
