Theoretical Framework
Elihu Katz published his study in 1959 from which he discussed
about internet addiction and academic concerns of the students. Katz
model of internet addiction is proposed: the disease model, the adaptive
model and the way of life model. These three (3) models focused on
pathology, adaptive or behavioral type. Elihu Katz state that intrinsic
motivators comes from within ourselves which we are doing something
because we are enjoying it. While extrinsic motivators comes from
outside, which is people doing something can obtain extrinsic motivators
such as praise from others. In Katz theory, negative effects of internet
addiction disorder includes academic performance of the students.

Conclusions
Based on the aforesaid findings, this study makes the
following conclusions.
The students are not addicted on internet.
Internet addiction have nothing to do with the academic
performance of the students.
Recommendations
Based on the exhibited findings and conclusions of the study the
following recommendations are presented for considerations:
The government may provide better internet facilities to various
schools and colleges with strict policy so that the teachers and
students use the internet solely for academic purpose.
The school should implement recreational activities that would make
the students spend much time in socializing.
The future researchers in the field of internet shall include other
measures aside from the identified indicators of each variable under
study and research must continue to replicate the study outside region
XI to validate the results of the current investigation on internet
addiction and academic performance of the students.
