This causal-correlation study explored the Effects of Vices on Senior High School and College Students

Academic Performance and Daily Lives. The results of the study formed the basis for recommendations.

This study spicifically answered the following questions:

1. What are the common vices that they have been exposed to?
1.1 Drinking
1.2 Smoking Cigarette
1.3 Vaping
1.4 Gambling

2. What are the main causes of their vices?


2.1 Peer Pressure
2.2 Family Problem
2.3 Personal Problem
2.4 Academic Pressure

3. What is the level of academic performance of grade 12 Senior High School and College
Students that are exposed to vices?

4. What is the frequency of vice- related behavior among grade 12 senior high school and college
students?

5. Is there a significant difference on the effects of vices on academic performance and daily lives
between grade 12 Senior High School and College Students that are exposed to Vices?

6. Based on the findings, what recommendations may be proposed?

This study utilized a causal-correlation design, which establishes a causal relationship between
independent and dependent variables after an action or occurrence has already occured.

The researchers used a survey-based method as the process of gathering data due to its validity and
because it is commonly used by other research experts across the world. The general setting of this
study was the city of Cebu, specifically the University of Cebu—Banilad. 50 senior high school and 50
college students from the University of Cebu-Banilad were chosen as the respondents of this study. The
researchers used a technique called snowball sampling when selecting the respondents for this analysis.
The questionaires used are the vices and their effects questionaire and tally, which collects the number
of effects of vices on senior high school and college students.

In gathering the data, the researchers prioritized and complied with the essential papers, which
were the authorization letter, informed consent, and the survey questionaires. In collecting the data,
three phases were observed: the distribution phase, the survey phase, and the tabulation phase.
