INTRODUCTION
Epilepsy is a disorder that is characterized by recurrent,
unprovoked seizures. It is a tendency to have recurrent
seizures.
It happens where the patient falls down and looses
memory for a while.
SEIZURE is a result of sudden, usually brief, excessive
electrical discharges in a group of brain cells (neurons).
Hence, there is greater need for the lookup of the
epileptic patients.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
People suffering from epilepsy come across many
disturbances like falling down and getting injured,
falling along the road and even falling on fire. If they do
not get a fast help, this can made them to more injury
and may even result to death. There is a need to help
these people in order to put them in a safe zone. Since
the state of this disease can happen anywhere, hence a
patient needs help at the very instant of the accident
occurrence. By not doing that, it can lead to even death
of an epileptic patient. Therefore, there is great need to
design a system that will make them to get a fast and
required help at that instant.
OBJECTIVES
Main objectives:
The main objective of this project is to design and
implement system that will inform the epileptic patient
care taker about the status and position of the patient
and where to find him/her so as to give him/her a help.
Here the system should alert and give the direction of
where to find the patient.
Specific objectives:
• To design an alarm system that will alert automatically
when the accident occurs.
• To make connections between sensor and control part.
• To connect power supply to control part and other
parts that need power.
• To interface between control part, the GSM module,
and the GPS module.
• To design a power supply to energize the system.
METHODOLOGY

Here the following will be done,

a. Literature review - reading different
books/articles/magazines
b. Data collection – gathering and measuring
information on the variables of interest.
c. Data analysis – detailed examination of the data
collected.
d. System design
e. Simulation – testing the system designed on
computer.
f. Testing – prototype is built and being tested.
Existing systems

The existing system for this problem is done just

manually where the patient care taker is always careful
looking for the patient. Here, the care taker needs to be
with the patient at all the time, hence it is time
consuming system and generally he/she can not do any
other developing activity.
WEAKNESS OF EXISTING SYSTEM
• It is time consuming way of taking care for the patient
• It is locally conducted.
• This can not be conducted at a large cloud of people.
PROPOSED SOLUTION

Designing the system that will have vibrating sensing unit and an alarm
system that will alert automatically on occurrence of an accident. On
doing that the message will be sent to a care taker’s phone to inform
him/her that the patient is on accident. This information will be sent
together with the location of the accident in order to inform the care
taker to know the location. Hence, the system will have GSM for
messages and GPS for location. Supplying unit called power supply will
be involved to energize the system.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
EXPLANATIONS OF PROPOSED SYSTEM BLOCK
SENSING PART-this is electronic sensor to sense vibration(sudden fall), temperature sensor,
heart rate sensor hence if the intensity is more than the specific threshold value, the sensor is
activated at the same time, GPS module and GSM modem which are interfaced to
microcontroller are also activated. So, through GPS module, the exact location of latitude &
longitude of the location can be identified and GSM modem sends the messages as per
condition.
CONTROL PART-this section is the heart of the system. It is where all system parts are
connected, hence it acts as system interface.
ALARM-this is alerting part of the system that informs the surrounding about the current
status of the patient.
INTERFACE-this is connection between GSM, GPS,and control unit. The receiving side of the
controller is connected to the output of the GPS module and the transmitting side of the
controller is connected to the data in of the GSM modem. This is MAX232, that is an
integrated circuit which is used to convert the transistor logic levels (TTL) to RS232 logic levels.
GPS-this is Location Module
GSM-This is Message Transmission Modem, this module accepts a single simcard and can send
and receive messages (text messages).
POWER SUPPLY-to energize the system.

CONCLUSION
With this system, System is designed which can be
most useful for epileptic patients so as to help them
during occurrence of their disorder . It’s a low cost,
Power efficient system by which the action time can be
minimized and exact location of an accident can also be
defined with GPS service and also the information
regarding accident can be sent to particular person
contact numbers e.g. Patient care taker, Doctors or any
close relative. Over all this system is very much
affordable to common people and this can be easily
implemented.
